We’re always excited to welcome new volunteers to our scouting family. Whether you want to work directly with our young members, help maintain our Scout Hut, or lend your skills to managing our website and social media, there’s a rewarding role for you here.
Volunteering can be a brilliant way to boost your mental wellbeing. It’s a great feeling knowing you’re helping young people get skills for life, and you might even learn a lot about yourself along the way.

Here’s how you can get involved:
- Fill in the Adult Application Form: Email it to us to kickstart the process.
- Meet with our team: We’ll guide you through the DBS request, an essential part of our safety checks.
- Discuss your role: We’ll ensure you understand your responsibilities. A chat with our district appointments panel will be scheduled with plenty of notice.
Training is essential for the safety and well-being of our young members and adult volunteers. Here’s a summary:
- Complete the ‘Getting Started‘ training online within the first 5 months.
- Wood badge training for Leaders and Assistant Leaders can be a mix of online, face-to-face, and on-the-job training over a three-year period.
- Personal learning plans are tailored to your pace and needs.
- Explore our county training booking system to find face-to-face courses that suit you.
We can offer specialist training opportunities such as NSRA qualified Air Rifle instruction, Tomahawk throwing expertise, Hill Walking qualifications, Archery, and more!
What to Wear? We provide your Scouting uniform at no cost to you.
