Adult Volunteers

We’re always excited to welcome new volunteers to our Scouting family. Whether you’re eager to work directly with young members, assist in maintaining our Scout Hut, or lend your expertise in managing our website and social media, there’s a rewarding role for you here.

Why Volunteer with Us?

Volunteering is a brilliant way to boost your mental wellbeing. Knowing you’re helping young people gain skills for life brings immense satisfaction, and you might even discover new strengths within yourself along the way.

As a volunteer, you’ll have opportunities to:

  • Make friends and meet new people: Join a community of like-minded individuals.
  • Try new things and challenge yourself: Engage in diverse activities that push your boundaries.
  • Get outdoors and get stuck in: Participate in adventures that connect you with nature.
  • Positively impact your community: Contribute to meaningful local projects.
  • Create vital opportunities for young people: Help shape the leaders of tomorrow.
  • Make memories that’ll last a lifetime: Experience moments you’ll cherish forever.

No Prior Scouting Experience? Not a Problem!

No experience is needed—just enthusiasm, a sense of fun, and a willingness to make a difference. You’ll be joining a supportive team with plenty of resources to help you along the way.

How to Get Involved:

  1. Express Your Interest: Fill in the Adult Application Form and email it to us to kickstart the process.
  2. Meet with Our Team: We’ll guide you through the necessary steps, including the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, an essential part of our safety measures.
  3. Discuss Your Role: We’ll ensure you understand your responsibilities and schedule a meeting with our district appointments panel to formalize your involvement.

Training and Development:

We want all our volunteers to have the skills and knowledge they need to feel confident to keep young people safe and help them gain skills for life. Our learning structure, known as the Learning Tree, comprises:

  • Growing Roots: Essential training for all new volunteers to be completed within the first six months.
  • Branching Out: Additional learning opportunities to further develop your skills and gain accreditations.

Safety, Safeguarding, and First Response training need to be renewed every three years. You can access all our learning materials and track your progress through the ‘My Learning’ section on our website.

Uniform Provision:

We provide your Scouting uniform at no cost to you, ensuring you’re fully equipped to start your journey with us.

Recognizing Your Contributions:

We believe in acknowledging the dedication of our volunteers. Our awards and recognition program celebrates achievements and milestones, offering various awards to honor your service and commitment.
