The Mental Health Benefits of Volunteering in Youth Leadership.
Volunteering is a powerful tool for enhancing mental well-being, offering a sense of fulfillment while imparting invaluable skills to young individuals. As volunteers, we not only contribute to the growth of our communities but also embark on a journey of self-discovery and personal development.
Within our organization, leaders and young leaders have the opportunity to explore diverse interests, ranging from Air Rifle Shooting to mastering Bush Craft Skills. Recently, during a training session facilitated by Tom & Sasha from One Tree Forest School Adventures, participants delved into the art of wood carving. From crafting mallets to carving spoons, bread knives, and spatulas, the experience was both enriching and educational.
Armed with archery permits, our leaders are equipped to introduce this age-old skill to our youth, fostering focus, discipline, and precision. Additionally, activities like Tomahawks and Angels further broaden the spectrum of learning, instilling confidence and resourcefulness among participants.
Volunteering not only nurtures the next generation but also nurtures our own well-being. It’s a journey of growth, gratitude, and giving back—a journey that shapes not only the lives of others but our own as well.
